From global central bank signals to domestic corporate results, and from trade talks to policy shifts, here’s what moved markets and why it matters.

1. US Fed announced the minutes of the June FOMC meet on July 09, 2025

Impact Analysis

• The members of the FOMC were not keen on cutting interest rates immediately, although they are looking at rate cuts later
• The CME Fedwatch is pencilling in a likely rate cut of another 50 bps in 2025 and possibly an additional 50 bps in 2026

2. Mutual funds saw net inflows in June 2025 of ₹49,095 crore across categories

Impact Analysis

• Interestingly, the debt fund outflows were marginal, despite this being a quarter end as there was more of fund flipping
• Equity fund inflows improved to ₹23,587 crore, but the big star was hybrid funds with net inflows of ₹23,429 crore

3. SIP inflows touched an all-time high of ₹27,269 crore in June 2025

Impact Analysis

• In the last 2 months, there has been an addition of 50 lakh MF folios, of which 30 lakh folios have been SIP folios
• The SIP stoppage ratio, after peaking at 353% in April 2025, sobered to 72.2% in May and to 77.9% in June 2025

4. TCS, the tech bellwether, announced its Q1FY26 results on Thursday 10-July

Impact Analysis

• While the net profits were 6% higher at ₹12,760 crore in Q1, the total revenues were up just 1.3% at ₹63,437 crore
• There was a 30 bps improvement in the operating margins at 24.5%, while the TCV flows for Q1FY26 stood at $9.4 billion

5. Inox Clean Energy has filed for a Confidential IPO worth ₹6,000 crore

Impact Analysis

• The fund raising will entirely be a fresh issue of shares, and the indicative valuation at the IPO price is ₹50,000 crore
• The company is part of INOX group and is an Uttar Pradesh based manufacturer of solar modules and photovoltaic cells

6. Asian Paints has exited its entire stake in Akzo Nobel via ₹734 crore bulk deal

Impact Analysis

• The sale comes close on the heals of JSW Paints buying a 74.8% stake in Akzo Nobel India to expand its paints franchise
• A total of 2 million shares changed hands in the bulk deal and the buyers included Eastspring Investments and ICICI Pru AMC

7. GAIL and Oil India signed a 15-year gas sale and repurchase agreement (GSPA)

Impact Analysis

• As part of the agreement, Oil India will supply 9 lakh SCMD of gas per day to GAIL from its Bakhri Tibba Block in Rajasthan
• GAIL currently operates a network of 16,421 KM of natural gas pipelines across India and transmits 127 MMSCMD of gas

8. The centre is looking to sell a minority stake in LIC, out of its 96.5% holdings

Impact Analysis

• In May 2022, the government had sold a 3.5% stake in LIC for a sum of ₹21,000 crore and this time valuation should be up
• The government has to offload another 6.5% stake in LIC by May 2027 to meet the 10% public ownership requirement

9. Indian companies queue up for rare earth magnets to beat China syndrome

Impact Analysis

• Rare earth magnets are critical components for EVs and the companies like M&M and Uno Minda have shown interest
• While there could be a gestation of more than 1 year, for auto companies it is worth the wait to secure their supplies

10. D-Mart net profits flat at ₹773 crore in Q1FY26, despite sharply higher sales

Impact Analysis

• The EBITDA grew by just 6.4%, against sales growth of 16.5%, so the EBITDA margins contracted from 8.68% to 7.94%
• In the last few quarters, the D-Mart model has been facing a lot of competition from online selling and quick commerce

11. India holds nearly 15% of all gold mined globally, largely as household gold

Impact Analysis

• While all the central banks in the world hold $12.5 trillion worth of gold, Indian households have $23 trillion worth gold
• Gold emerged as the second largest central bank reserve asset after the dollar, but it still does not beat Indian households

12. Government is likely to offer ₹35,000 crore as LPG compensation to OMCs

Impact Analysis

• The under-recoveries in LPG due to subsidized pricing are borne by the downstream oil marketing companies in India
• The compensation to these OMCs is being funded by the imposition of an additional ₹2/litre cess on petrol and diesel

13. Priya Nair to take over as the first women CEO of Hindustan Unilever Ltd

Impact Analysis

• Priya has a 30-year stint at HUL and has guided the beauty and wellness segment of the company for a very long time
• Priya takes over as Rohit Jawa steps down to pursue other interests; and ED Ritesh Tiwary is moving to a global role

14. Bombay High Court backs convenience fee model of BookMyShow and PVR

Impact Analysis

• This virtually strikes down the ban on convenience fee by the Maharashtra government as it impedes commercial interests
• This decision indicates a shift in judicial thinking about allowing digital platforms to support their own economics

15. Shareholders reject the proposed Zee warrants issue worth ₹2,237 crore

Impact Analysis

• The warrants would have allowed the Subhash Chandra family to increase their stake in Zee from 3.99% to 18.39%
• The EGM required 75% supportive votes, but the proposal could only get the support of 60% of the voting shareholders

16. GIC RE sees big opportunity in surety bonds for its reinsurance business

Impact Analysis

• Currently, reinsurance is not too active in retail products like life and health, but popular in property and aviation insurance
• Surety bonds are the next big opportunity in reinsurance as banks cannot provide guarantees for Infrastructure projects

17. Jane Street will approach the SAT against the SEBI order and then courts

Impact Analysis

• It may be recollected that SEBI had penalized Jane Street for allegedly manipulating the indices to make huge profits
• Jane Street is of the view that it only indulged in legitimate arbitrage transactions and within the limits prescribed by SEBI

18. Government revocation of CELEBI stands as High Court concurs

Impact Analysis

• CELEBI of Turkey had filed a plea with the Delhi High Court for summarily terminating their airport services contract in India
• India had terminated the contract on security grounds, after Turkey had supported Pakistan in the brief Indo-Pak war

19. The next big trigger for SBI valuation accretion may come from subsidiaries

Impact Analysis

• It is estimated that SBI is sitting on a treasury house of nearly ₹3,50,000 crore in terms of the valuation of subsidiaries
• This includes some of its key subsidiary businesses like mutual funds, life insurance, general insurance, and payments

20. India CPI inflation is expected to fall further to 2.5% for June 2025

Impact Analysis

• The CPI inflation number will be announced on Monday, and is likely to be led lower by tepid food prices and higher base
• However, the core inflation is expected to go up by 10 bps to 4.3% amidst supply chain constraints imposed by US tariffs

21. The Indo-US trade deal is still stuck on areas like services, agri, and GM crops

Impact Analysis

• There will be one more round of talks next week and it is hoped that the deal would be sealed before August 2025
• However, Trump has already raised the import duties on steel and aluminium, and India is likely to impose retaliatory tariffs
