Finnovate Weekly Capsule (Nov 10–Nov 14, 2025)

Welcome to this week’s edition of Finnovate’s Weekly Capsule. Below are the top headlines from Nov 10–Nov 14, 2025, with concise impact analysis to help you understand what these developments could mean for markets, policy, and your portfolio.

1. India CPI inflation for October 2025 dipped to 0.25%; lowest in 2013 series

Impact Analysis

  • Sharp fall led by food inflation contracting -5.02% despite core inflation at 4.4%.
  • Very low CPI could signal demand slowdown rather than benign price pressures - a risk for growth expectations.

2. WPI inflation for October 2025 dipped into negative zone at -1.21%

Impact Analysis

  • WPI food fell deeper into negative territory; manufacturing inflation eased due to GST cuts.
  • Manufacturing WPI (64.2% weight) softening reduces wholesale price pressures but points to weaker industrial pricing power.

3. Mutual fund equity AUM scales an all-time high of ₹49.91 trillion

Impact Analysis

  • Active equity AUM at ₹35.17 trillion; remaining AUM from hybrids, ETFs and index funds.
  • Flows favoured Retail, Healthcare, Automobiles, Telecom and Metals - sector rotation remains active.

4. SIP flows in October hit a new high of ₹29,529 crore

Impact Analysis

  • Average SIP flows this year remain >₹28,000 crore; SIP stoppage ratio improved to 74.85%.
  • Contributing SIP folio ratio has bounced to 95.68% in recent months - good sign for retail resilience.

5. Mutual funds added 40+ lakh folios in Oct-25 with inflows of ₹2.16 trillion

Impact Analysis

  • Net AUM reached ₹79.88 trillion on the back of debt inflows and equity MTM gains.
  • Debt inflows clustered at the short end; flexi-caps and passive gold funds drove equity and passive flows.

6. Marquee IPOs this week struggled to get HNI / NII portions subscribed

Impact Analysis

  • Pine Labs (2.43X), PhysicsWallah (1.78X) and EMVEE Photovoltaic (0.97X) showed weak HNI demand.
  • Under-subscription in HNI tranches raises questions on pricing and selective investor appetite for new listings.

7. SBI Mutual Fund plans a $1.2 billion IPO in 2026

Impact Analysis

  • IPO could value SBI Funds at ~$12 billion; SBI and Amundi to sell part of their stake via OFS.
  • As the largest AMC, SBI Funds monetising market value is a logical next step and will be closely watched.

8. Tata Motors demerged CV and PV entities start trading independently

Impact Analysis

  • Demerged listings reduce cross-subsidy and enable granular valuation for CV and PV businesses.
  • Investors can now allocate capital more precisely based on each vertical’s fundamentals and growth outlook.

9. Andhra Pradesh eyes $500 billion of investments in next 3 years

Impact Analysis

  • Part of a broader $1 trillion 10-year target focused on high-tech and green energy projects under the Naidu plan.
  • Past traction (≈$20bn) and job creation (~2 million) provide credibility, but execution will be key.

10. India Hotels acquires 51% of Atmantan to enter integrated wellness

Impact Analysis

  • IHCL paid ₹240 crore for a majority stake, signalling a push into health tourism and premium wellness offerings.
  • Domestic demand dominates premium wellness - not just international tourists - making this a strategic growth play.

11. Concerns build over new US Senate bill hitting the $280bn Indian IT sector

Impact Analysis

  • Proposed 25% tax on offshore services could significantly raise costs for US client companies and reduce demand for offshore work.
  • Reshoring rhetoric may boost onshore hiring, but US capacity constraints mean long-term impact is uncertain.

12. HAL sees order book rise to ₹2.30 trillion with ₹62,400 crore Tejas order

Impact Analysis

  • Defence in-sourcing and large orders improve visibility but shift focus to execution and penalty management for delays.
  • Sector-wide order books will support capex and manufacturing ramp-up across defence suppliers.

13. Eicher Motors reports 24.46% higher net profits for Q2FY26 at ₹1,370 crore

Impact Analysis

  • 45% sales growth and a favourable product mix drove strong profitability for the quarter.
  • GST cuts boosted demand for certain models, helping the premium motorcycle segment.

14. Cement industry to invest ₹1.20 trillion to boost capacity by 75% by FY28

Impact Analysis

  • Planned additions of 160–170 MTPA before FY28 will support long-term infrastructure demand.
  • Healthy demand trajectory (30–40 MT pa) from realty and infrastructure underpins the capex push.

15. Noel Tata inducts Neville Tata into Sir Dorabji Trust board

Impact Analysis

  • Board changes in the Tata trusts continue amid wider governance scrutiny; Neville’s induction is a partial win for Noel Tata.
  • Attempts to place Neville in Sir Ratan Tata Trust did not succeed - trust dynamics remain politically sensitive.

16. FMCG companies hit by inverted duty structure in Q2

Impact Analysis

  • GST cuts on food (0–5%) mean GST on inputs can be higher, causing loss of input tax credit and pressuring margins.
  • Companies will need to manage pricing and cost structures until tax and input mixes stabilise.

17. Warren Buffett steps down from Berkshire; Greg Abel takes over

Impact Analysis

  • Buffett will no longer write the annual shareholder letter (except a Thanksgiving note) - end of an era for investor communications.
  • Buffett’s long-term outperformance vs S&P500 (~2x CAGR over 60 years) cements his legacy; transition to Abel is strategically planned.

18. Ranjan Pai bids for Byju’s parent unit (Think & Learn)

Impact Analysis

  • Manipal Education’s bid enters the CIRP-driven sale process - attractiveness of the education tech asset will depend on restructuring and monetisation plans.
  • Buyers with strong education franchises may find strategic synergies beyond simple content plays.

19. NDA–Nitish Kumar alliance sweeps Bihar Assembly polls

Impact Analysis

  • NDA–JDU winning 202 seats exceeded expectations, forcing opposition introspection and reshaping political calculus in the region.
  • Strong mandate could accelerate state-level policy continuity and investor confidence in Bihar.

20. Early indications hint 2025 Rabi sowing 27% better than last year

Impact Analysis

  • Reservoir replenishment from delayed monsoons aided Rabi sowing - a larger winter crop should keep food inflation contained into 2026.
  • Stronger agricultural output reduces downside risk to food supply and price spikes.

21. CarTrade plans to acquire CarDekho in a $1.2+ billion deal

Impact Analysis

  • Merging two leading auto classifieds/commerce platforms creates scale and competitive advantage in distribution and data monetisation.
  • Deal dynamics will determine market consolidation benefits and synergies for both businesses.
