What we do in Bhuj

We work with Kutchi business families navigating HUF succession and real-estate-heavy portfolios, NRIs from the UK and East Africa managing FEMA compliance, and renewable energy professionals building discipline around lump-sum contract income. Our advice spans tax regime decisions, investment allocation, insurance gaps, and long-term estate planning. We keep the language plain and jargon-free.

Investments are primarily through Mutual Funds; PMS is considered where the portfolio and risk profile warrant it. Reviews happen quarterly so your plan keeps pace with Kutch's changing economy, property market, and business cycles. Everything is documented. You always know where you stand and what comes next.

What we see most from Kutch's business families and NRI diaspora: HUF set up by the previous generation, never reviewed under the new tax regime. NRE accounts in the UK and East Africa sitting idle. Real estate making up over 75% of net worth with no liquidity plan. These are the three most common starting points in our Bhuj conversations.

FAQs

1. Do I need to visit an office in Bhuj?

Not always. Many Kutch-based clients prefer virtual meetings. If an in-person meeting at our College Road office is more convenient, we will confirm availability during the call.

2. How long is the first call?

Usually 20-30 minutes. We understand your goals and current setup, and outline next steps. There is no product pitch in the first call.

3. How do fees work?

Fees depend on the engagement type and portfolio size. We explain them clearly before you decide, with no surprises. As a SEBI-registered RIA, we earn fees only from you, not commissions from products.

4. Should I continue my HUF under the new tax regime?

Under the new tax regime, an HUF (Hindu Undivided Family, a distinct legal entity under Hindu law that allows a family to pool income and assets for tax purposes) loses most deductions, including Sec 80C, HRA, and standard deduction. For HUFs with agricultural income, rental income, or business income from family assets, the old regime is typically more advantageous. For HUFs with simpler profiles, the new regime's lower slabs may apply. The right choice depends significantly on your HUF's income composition and asset structure. A SEBI-registered advisor can model both against your actual data.

5. What financial planning do Kutchi NRIs need when investing in India?

NRIs must maintain separate NRE and NRO accounts; commingling creates FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act, India's law governing cross-border money flows) violations. NRIs can invest in Indian mutual funds through a PIS (Portfolio Investment Scheme) account linked to their NRE or NRO account. The most commonly missed compliance steps are: TDS on NRO interest, LTCG reporting on equity holdings, and Form 15CA/CB for large remittances. Kutchi NRIs holding Indian property interests also require separate FEMA filings on disposal. A SEBI-registered advisor familiar with NRI tax provisions can map the full structure before you invest.

6. How do renewable energy professionals at Kutch projects manage lump-sum income?

Contract engineers and project managers at Khavda, Adani Green, and NTPC installations typically receive significant contract fees or bonuses in one or two annual tranches. The recommended approach: park the lump sum immediately in a liquid or short-duration debt fund, then deploy into equity via an STP (Systematic Transfer Plan, a mechanism that moves a fixed amount from a debt fund to an equity fund at regular intervals, averaging your purchase price over time). NPS contributions in the year of receipt also reduce taxable income under Sec 80CCD(1B), separate from the standard 80C limit. The goal is to avoid both idle savings and panic-driven market timing.

7. How do I verify a financial advisor in Bhuj is SEBI-registered?

Search the SEBI intermediaries list at sebi.gov.in under Investment Advisers. A registered RIA must follow a fiduciary standard and cannot earn commissions on products they recommend. Finnovate's SEBI RIA number is INA000013518, registered since June 2019. Most financial advisors in Bhuj are mutual fund distributors or insurance agents, commission-based intermediaries with no legal obligation to act in your interest. SEBI registration is only the first check. Use this step-by-step guide to choosing a financial advisor in India to also compare fees, experience, conflicts, deliverables and complaint processes.
