Financial Planning for Doctors

Your medical degree didn't come with a finance elective.
We fill that gap.

Between OPD hours, rounds and exams, most doctors end up handing their money to whoever pitched them first, an agent, a colleague's "guy," or a bank RM. Finnovate builds a SEBI-registered plan around a medical career: the late start, the irregular income, the practice, all of it.

This is where most doctors start. A FinnFit™ plan is what moves these numbers.
Where generic advice breaks down

Doctors don't have a "normal" income curve

Most financial advice assumes a fixed monthly salary from your mid-20s. For a doctor, almost none of that holds.

A late, compressed start

MBBS, then MD/MS or a super-speciality, often means real earning begins at 28–30. That is six or more years of compounding your salaried peers already have, and no amount of income later fully buys that time back.

Income that doesn't arrive like a salary

OPD collections, locum shifts, consultancy fees and insurance TPA payouts land in lumps, not equal monthly instalments. A fixed SIP and a fixed budget both struggle against that pattern.

Advisors selling products, not plans

High income and little time to research is exactly what draws agents pushing ULIPs and endowment plans dressed up as "tax saving." Few of these are built around what a doctor actually needs.

The practice is the asset, and the risk

Equipment finance, clinic setup or expansion loans, locum staffing costs, and usually no answer to what happens to the practice if you can't run it for six months.

How we plan it

The same FinnFit™ framework, read for a medical career

Six pillars, the same ones every Finnovate client gets, applied to the specifics of practising medicine in India.

1

Goal Planning

Practice expansion, a fellowship abroad, a child's education, mapped against a career that often has two income phases: employed, then private practice.

2

Budgeting & Taxation

Presumptive taxation under Section 44ADA, TDS on professional fees, GST on non-clinical income, planned for in April, not discovered in March.

3

Loan Management

Equipment finance, clinic setup loans and practice buyouts structured so debt doesn't eat into the years you should be compounding.

4

Insurance Planning

Term cover sized to a sole earner's real liabilities, plus the professional indemnity and disability gaps most off-the-shelf policies miss.

5

Investment Planning

SIPs and asset allocation built for irregular, lumpy cash flow, not a fixed monthly salary landing on the 1st.

6

Estate Planning

A will and a succession plan that covers both your family and your practice, so neither is left undecided.

FAQs

Questions doctors actually ask us

I already have a CA and an insurance agent. Why do I need a financial planner too?
A CA files your taxes and an agent sells policies. Neither is accountable for whether your money actually reaches your goals. A financial planner sits above both, coordinating tax, insurance, loans and investments into one plan built around your income.
I'm a resident or I just started my practice. Isn't it too early for financial planning?
It is actually the best time. The earlier you start, the more time compounding gets to work, and the right insurance and investment structure is far cheaper to set up now than to fix later.
My income from OPD, locums and consultancy fees changes every month. Can a plan work with that?
Yes, that is exactly what we plan around. Instead of a fixed monthly SIP, we build a cash-flow-based system: reserves, staggered investing and tax provisioning that flex with what actually lands in your account.
Do you sell mutual funds and insurance, or are you only advisors?
We work on a hybrid model. SEBI-registered advisory comes first, with the option to execute mutual funds, insurance and other products through us if you want everything in one place. The plan always comes before the product.
How is planning different for a private practice owner versus a salaried hospital consultant?
A salaried consultant's biggest gaps are usually insurance and tax efficiency. A practice owner has those, plus practice debt, equipment financing and succession planning to think about. We scope the plan to which one applies to you.
What happens in the free 30-minute consult?
We look at your current income pattern, existing insurance and investments, and flag the one or two biggest gaps. No forms to fill in advance, and no obligation to continue.

Your practice runs on your judgement. Let your money run on a plan.

30 minutes, no forms, no obligation. Just a clear look at where your finances stand today.
